Situation:

Microsoft Access database connected to a MySQL server database

The error message also appears as here:

The Microsoft Access Database Engine stopped the process because you and another user are trying to change the same data at the same time.

Solution:

You have to change the ODBC driver in the ODBC data source connection.

To do this open the ODBC data sources administrator (enter ODBC in Cortana)

Then go to the section: System DSN

Then under System Data Sources, select the ODBC connection to the MySQL server database.

Then click Configure

Then the dialog appears: MySQL Connector / ODBC Source Configuration

Here under Details expand the configuration and then in the section: Cursors / Results

Enable:

Return matched rows instead of affected rows

After changing the ODBC connection you have to renew the table connection in MS Access.

To do this, select the bound table and switch to Table Link Manager.

In the Table Link Manager, select the connection and update with OK.

Check if the task is solved:

Thereafter, when directly opening a table to the MySQL database when writing to a cell, changing to the next row and then changing the previous cell again, no error may appear.

The same problem appears when accessing a SQL Server as database server with MS Access.

Here you have to insert an additional column of type timestamp Guid.
